A quote by Malala Yousafzai frame this book in a wonderful way.

“I don’t mind if I have to sit on the floor at school.  All I want is an education.”

Margriet Ruurs provides an overview of schools around the world that we don’t always read about like the First Nations school in Alberta, Canada where students learn traditional Cree and eat bannock for lunch.  Days of students in Honduras, the Cook Islands and Venezuela are also featured along with nine other countries.  Illustrations by Alice Feagan are very inviting and give another snapshot of life in the featured school.  This book was used at Tecumseh Elementary in Vancouver on December 10th, the day the United Nations Declaration of Rights and Freedoms was signed in 1948. to explored the right of all children to attend school.
